A Treasure is Lost, A Treasure is Found

FYI: this is Katie, Brandon’s cousin, writing this post.

If you have a moment, look through all of the photos here on www.brandonbitner.com. You will probably notice a common theme: Brandon’s beloved gothic cross necklace that he NEVER took off.

Throughout the past eight months, the location of that cross necklace remained a mystery. He never took it off, so his family assumed he wore it the night that he decided to leave us. Brandon’s mother Tammy and his sister Crystal spent hours upon hours in the passing months, desperately searching and hoping to find Brandon’s cross.

The gothic cross is a symbol of Brandon: his unique style, his love for music, and his love for all things different. My family members and our closest friends all  searched for the same exact cross that Brandon wore during Christmastime… we thought it would be a great present for Tammy. Unfortunately, we never found it.  To our surprise, we all received gothic cross necklaces from Tammy for Christmas which allow us to keep Brandon near our hearts every day.

Imagine my surprise when I logged on Facebook the other day and read this, posted by Brandon’s mother Tammy:

Crystal just made my night! She found Brandons cross!! I couldn’t stop crying. He put it in her bag that was his old gym bag. I have been wanting that for 8 months. I can’t tell you how emotional I am right now and how much I appreciate Crystal finding it. Thank you Crystal, I love you!!! Love and miss you Brandon!!

Just like Brandon, playing tricks and hiding things! I bet he knew Tammy would be searching high and low for that necklace. I thought it would be appropriate to share a photo of the treasure that Tammy finally has in her possession. It’s undoubtedly something she’ll never let go as it was such a major part of Brandon. We all love and miss you so much, Brandon!
