MIDDLEBURG — It doesn’t get much bigger than Madonna picking up your cause.
A Swedish film company will use a photo of Brandon Bitner in a video it’s producing for Madonna’s upcoming world tour, and will donate $5,000 to the Susquehanna University scholarship in Brandon’s name.
Katie Goodling, Brandon’s cousin, confirmed Saturday a deal with Adamsky Film Production of Stockholm to use Brandon’s photo, one of seven portraits of bullying victims to run in the video.
Each will display with an RIP sign and the person’s name for about three seconds.
Goodling also administers BrandonBitner.com, a website dedicated to bullying prevention and Brandon’s memory. He committed suicide in November 2010, citing incessant bullying at Midd-West High School in the note he left.

Thank you Katie and Madonna for helping to understand that there is a way out through caring, art and music. To Katie, what you’ve done in you late friend’s memory is selfless, kind and gracious. And a big shout-out to Madonna-you are my inspiration. Whenever I hear Live to Tell, Promise to Try, Rain, Ray of Light, Nobody Knows Me, Get Together and Masterpiece among your many beautiful songs, I Don’t Feel So Alone. Thank You for Your Shining MDNA/Confession/Ray of Light Example, Your Voice is Truly Like a Prayer Because Your Music Says That Prayer-it Sings and Cries for Itself. As we honor Brandon, let’s Imagine what John Lennon articulated-We are dreamers but we’re not the only ones. Let that Ray of Light shine on Brandon and his memory-Let’s have hope so all of us can and will Live to Tell and Take a Bow. Thank You Katie and especially Madonna for lighting that candle of hope.
Rabbitbunny said it perfect! Couldn’t have said it any better myself. Katie, you are an angel for Brandon and Madonna you are an insperation to all~ So many of your songs saved me from being depressed and giving up! All I had to do was hear them and start be-bopping to them, me and my BFF~lol.. Loud music, driving to wherever~lol You doing for Brandon and the others hits home… I just reciently lost an old friend to suiside due to depression
My son was bullied all through grammer and high school.. He is one of the lucky ones, he survived. It wasn’t because of being gay, he was just quiet and kept to himself..and was called names like fat. His whole youth was a nightmare
Funny thing is You gave me stength so I gave him my strength~ indirectly, you saved him
just like you can with so many more~ In fact, your ticket to see your up-comeing concert was from him and my other 2 sons for Mothers Day. They know the impression you have left on me and what an insperation you were/are~ and they also know I danced and would spin them to ALL your songs when they were young~lol look forward to seeing those beautiful faces and praying for their souls… I believe everyone in your audience should say a little something for their souls as we see them <3 -So glad you are doing this during your concerts.. We have to put a stop to kids who bully others.. School is hard and stressed enough without this added stressor~ <3 Blessings <3 ~Dee C. ~
only wish it was $5,000 per performance.
